Best Ways to Earn Points

Hotels

Hotel bookings offer the easiest route to earning large amounts of rewards points. Members earn points for stays at Hyatt-owned properties worldwide. The number of points members earn varies based on their membership tier status. The points-earning potential for Rewards members breaks down as follows:

  • Member5 points per dollar spent at hotel brands
  • Discoverist5.5 points per dollar spent at hotel brands
  • Explorist6 points per dollar spent at hotel brands
  • Globalist6.5 points per dollar spent with Hyatt brands

Travel

  • Car Rentals: Earn 500 points when you book a rental with Avis and use promo code K817700.
  • FIND Experiences: Earn ten base points on both eligible FIND travel experiences and Exhale spa, health, and fitness offerings
  • Chase Ultimate Rewards: This program has only one credit card transfer partner in Chase Ultimate Rewards. Rewards points transfer to/from Chase Ultimate Rewards at a rate of 1:1, which offers exceptional value for money.
  • Flights with American Airlines: Discoverist, Explorist, and Globalist members earn one point for every dollar spent on American Airlines flights.

Value of Hyatt Rewards Points

Establishing the precise value of rewards points is not an exact science. There are several factors to determine the value of points, including the date of the booking, the location of the hotel, the season of the planned stay, room amenities, and more.

According to our detailed calculations, World of Hyatt Rewards points have a current value of around 1.7 to 1.8 cents per point.

Free Nights

Redeeming points for free night stays at eligible hotels offers members the best value-for-money in the rewards program. Reward nights rates vary depending on the category of the property, the date of the booking, and the location of the hotel or resort. Free nights in the program are bookable either with Points, or a combination of Points + Cash.

  • Points: Points bookings start as low as 5,000 for standard rooms to 10,000 points for premium suites with Category 1 hotels, up to 40,000 points-per-night for Category 8 properties.
  • Points + Cash: Points + Cash bookings provide greater flexibility, with as few as 2,500 points plus 50% of the standard rate required to book a standard room in a Category 1 property.

Transfer to Airline Miles

Points transfer to airline miles in many leading airline frequent flyer programs at a rate of around 2.5 points to 1 airline mile, though the exact rate may differ. For a list of all airline partners, please see our comprehensive program guide.

Other Ways to Redeem

  • Rental CarsPoints are redeemable for car rentals with Avis.
  • Spa CreditsPoints are applicable towards spa and health credits with Hyatt properties worldwide.
  • Dining Credits: Points apply towards credits for discounts or free meals with brand restaurants at hotels and resorts worldwide.
