Points – like other currencies – also fluctuate based on inflation and deflation, meaning some hotels may devalue their points. Disney Resorts

Advertiser Disclosure

Add cards to start comparing.

For nearly a century, the Walt Disney Company (better known as Disney) has been tugging at our heartstrings and stimulating our imaginations using the magic of storytelling and animation. As time has passed, Disney has developed its signature characters and expanded its catalog of movies, television shows, and merchandise. Characters like Ariel from The Little Mermaid or Winnie the Pooh will ring a Belle for anyone who grew up with Disney in their home. Now a popular vacation destination, Disney’s theme parks, and resorts bring the characters we love to life and many magical memories can be made while exploring each of Disney’s properties. A playground for children and adults alike, these vacation destinations will tickle your fancy as you meet the characters and pose for photos, explore Disney-themed rides and hands-on activities, and enjoy movie-themed action parks, food, and vacation resorts. Dining, attractions, entertainment, and shopping – Disney has it all – and now you can use Disney Rewards to make a dream vacation a reality.

What are Disney Rewards?

The Disney Rewards program is a no-frills loyalty rewards program targeted primarily for those who love the House of Mouse. Unlike other hotel rewards programs, there are no membership tiers here; members can create a free account to manage their rewards, check their Disney Rewards Dollars balance, request a Redemption Card, transfer rewards to a Redemption Card, and more.

How Does Disney Rewards Work?

Disney Rewards Dollars are earned by making purchases using Disney’s two co-branded Visa® cards, issued by Chase Bank:

  • Disney® Premier Visa® Card: Premier Visa cardholders can earn 2% in Disney Rewards Dollars for every $1 spent on all card purchases at grocery stores, gas stations, restaurants and most Disney locations. This adds up to 2 Disney Rewards Dollars for every $100 you spend, and an additional 1% on all other card purchases, so you can turn everyday spending into a dream vacation.
  • Disney® Visa® Card: Cardholders will earn 1% in Disney Rewards Dollars for all everyday purchases made with their Disney Visa card. This adds up to 1 Disney Rewards Dollar for every $100 spent on everyday expenses!

Note: You cannot earn Disney Rewards Dollars without one of these credit card offers.

Each time you make a transaction with your card, you’ll earn Disney Reward Dollars, which hold the same value as $1 when they’re redeemed directly with Disney properties. Disney Reward Dollars can be used to purchase things like:

  • Theme park tickets at Walt Disney World® and Disneyland®
  • Costumes, toys, and games from the Disney Store
  • Hotel stays at Disney Resorts
  • Dining, shopping, and entertainment options at Disney theme parks, Disney Springs®, Downtown Disney® District, Disney Cruise Line, and more
  • Disney Cruise Line vacation packages
  • Movie tickets to see the latest Disney and Star Wars movies at AMC Theatres
  • Airline travel (this benefit is only available to Disney Premier Visa Cardholders – you can purchase airline tickets with your card and then pay yourself back by redeeming your Disney Rewards Dollars on your monthly statement)

In order to redeem your Disney Rewards Dollars, cardholders will need to create an account with Disney Rewards and request a Disney Rewards Redemption Card. The Redemption Card can be used in combination with cash and accepted credit or debit cards, as well as in conjunction with other offers, and can be reloaded at any time. You can order or reload a Redemption card online, over the phone, and at theme park locations; Rewards Dollars must be transferred from the cardholder account to the Redemption Card before they can be redeemed.

How to Redeem Points

Points can be redeemed for a multitude of great rewards, and they never expire, so there’s no rush to redeem them. Use points towards free nights, which start at 8,000 points per stay. Points can be exchanged for gift cards from some of your favorite retailers or donated to a charitable organization. Additionally, if you have at least 6,000 points and can’t quite book a free night with points, but still want to use them, you can use Points Plus Cash to combine the points total you have with cash for a discounted rate. Finally, points can be redeemed for cruises (85,000 points add up to a $250 cruise credit, and 160,000 points equals a $500 cruise credit), Amtrak rewards, and even miles with the following airline partners:

Sonesta Travel Pass

Named “Best Hotel Rewards Program” by the U.S. News and World Report 2019-2020, Sonesta Travel pass is the guest rewards program from Sonesta Hotels, Resorts, and Cruises. Make each stay rewarding and earn free nights in as few as 15,000 rewards points, along with great perks, privileges and exclusive opportunities not available to just anyone.

How Does Sonesta Travel Pass Work?

Points can be earned by members who spend money directly with Sonesta to book hotel stays at properties across the United States and in more than six countries. For every dollar a member spends at participating Sonesta properties, 10 points are credited to their account. Additional point-earning can be found when you combine spending with the power of the Sonesta World Mastercard® – every $1 spent with the card earns 1 point, and cardholders get 2x points per $1 on eligible airfare, car rentals, and dining purchases. Best of all, cardholders get 3x points per $1 spent on all eligible Sonesta purchases, which means that Travel Pass members can score up to 13x points (3x points for using your card, and 10x for spending on a qualified room rate) just for booking a room directly with Sonesta using their co-branded Mastercard® credit card.

Sonesta Travel Pass members can book with the Member Rate, and enjoy a minimum of 5% off at all locations worldwide. Members can book rooms without worrying about blackout dates, and receive complimentary upgraded internet access during every stay, as an exclusive member offer just for signing up. Additionally, Sonesta will happily match your status with any other hotel loyalty program to sweeten the deal for you. Points never expire.
